About us

The site is created and maintained by the Upwey Society, which exists to promote our village, to run events in Upwey and maintain and improve the character of Upwey and its surroundings.

The Upwey Society is open to all the households in Upwey.

We want to be truly representative, so please join us if you haven’t already. Membership only costs £5 a year for each household. Members can attend and vote at annual general meetings and any special meetings, stand for election to the committee, bring matters to the attention of the committee for discussion – and get generally involved!

The Upwey Society was formed in 1974 with the aims of:

  • maintaining and improving the special character of our village.
  • arranging meetings and events;
  • fund raising.

We currently have over 100 households as members.

Among the events we hold are our annual Open Gardens and Scarecrow Competition in July, The Upwey Big Affair in August and Bonfire Night Fireworks in November (when else?)

If you are already a member, we would love you to become more involved. If you are not a member, why not join us? Please contact us.

Membership costs only £5 a year per household.
