Unfortunately, after a very slippery site visit on 25 August in the pouring rain and looking at the forecast for the next few days, we have decided, regretfully, to cancel this event. Let’s hope for good weather for our next event in November – the annual Upwey fireworks and that we will see you all there.

Event organised by Upwey Society and St Laurence to welcome a visit by Dorchester Choral Society.     The concert is free, but there will also be a fundraiser for the church toilet and servery beforehand.   Tickets at £6 available in advance from Maureen Carter on 01305 812723 will include wine, refreshments  and a social at 7pm, then be  seated for the concert at 7.45pm.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served afterwards when you will be able to meet the choir.
We anticipate a programme of both sacred and secular music, and it will include some wonderful works by Parry, Vaughan Williams, Palestrina, Byrd and several other composers.

This fascinating event enables you to visit places that are not normally open to the public, kindly arranged and led by our local farmer, Charles Foot. He will be accompanied by geologist Alan Holiday, who will explain the origins of the rock strata that we will see. The entries to some of the quarries are steep and uneven, so please take care and wear suitable footwear. Some areas may be wet and muddy!
