Volunteers carried out the restoration of the Church Street and Friar Waddon footpath in autumn 2011. For update see COMMUNITY ISSUES
GATES AND STILES
We obtained a grant to cover the cost of renewing the bridle gate at the community picnic spot at Gould’s Bottom, the kissing gate at Hurdlemead (bottom of Elwell Street) and the stile adjacent to Spring Cottage at the back of the Old School Hall.
Funding for the footpaths, gates and stiles came from Dorset County Council.
In conjunction with the Annual Well Dressing’s coastal theme at the beginning of May and an Upwey Society talk, we successfully raised a significant amount for the local Portland Bill Coastwatch Station.
